On 1/26/2024 at 1245am the Iron Mountain Fire Department (IMFD) responded to a report of fire at
700 East D Street.
Engine 2201 with an initial crew of 4 Firefighters arrived on the scene within 3 minutes of the call and
found a 2½ story residential home with light smoke on the second story. The crew arrived on the second
floor to find that the homeowner had used a fire extinguisher to put out a majority of the fire. Fire crew
started ventilation of the home and as they were checking for any fire extension found pockets of fire in
the ceiling. The fire crew extinguished all remaining fire extension and removed debris and insulation
from the home.
Smoke odor was throughout a majority of the home but fire damage was maintained to the room of fire
origin.
There were 2 civilian injuries, 0ne resident of the house complained of minor smoke inhalation and was
treated at the scene, and the other resident was transported to the hospital with burns to their hands.
Engine 2201 cleared the scene at 2:18 a.m.
Assisting at the scene were Officers from the Iron Mountain Police Department, and Integrity Care EMS.
The homeowner had working smoke alarms and fire extinguishers which helped with the outcome of
this incident.
