Marinette Fatality-3/25/2025

Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller reports that on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 7:52 p.m., Marinette
County Dispatch received a report of a one-vehicle crash on West 32nd Road at 49th Road in the Town of
Stephenson. It was reported that a vehicle had crashed into the ditch and all the airbags had been
deployed.
The investigation indicates that a vehicle operated by Edward J. Van Caster JR, age 53,
of Pound, Wisconsin, was traveling east on West 32nd Road when he failed to stop for the stop
sign, entered the ditch, and ultimately ended up crashing into a tree. Van Caster, who was not wearing a
seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries.
Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash that remains under investigation by the Marinette County
Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office. Also assisting Marinette
County deputies at the scene were members of the Pound Fire Department and Crivitz Rescue.
